Blog Anniversary

one year

One year ago today, I wrote my first blog entry. It wasn’t much, just a minor update to our new company as we started work on our office. Looking at my stats, I don’t think anyone actually read it, but it felt good to write something. Unfortunately, the update wasn’t very accurate:

“Our proprietary website should be completed in the next few days.”

Little did I know that it would be months before the functional items, like the search feature, would work. Of course, now that it is finished, I want to change it all so that it works better. I won’t be giving any predictions as to when that will happen this time around, but hopefully in the next year we’ll have streamlined and updated the site.

Sweet Digs Gone Sour

I am not a big fan of blogs that simply link to other blogs without any added content, but in this case I can only say one thing:

Wow!

Okay, I can’t hold my tongue (well, fingers in this case). The industry wonders why consumers don’t want to pay 6% and then this happens. Step away from the fact that Redfin charges less than the standard for a minute. Why would anyone want to limit new technologies that help both agents and consumers?

Maybe Redfin can divert some of their venture capital towards building a better MLS. Please?

Love That Technology

Having just switched over to wordpress for our blog, I am still learning how to use some of the features. Akismet is pre-installed spam software that comes with every wordpress blog. It seems to work well barring one major flaw: If it detects spam comments on posts older than 30 days it automatically deletes the comment without letting me review it. So as of now, there are 6 comments that have disappeared without me seeing them and I have no way of retrieving them. Were they legit or spam? I don’t know. If you happened to be one of the people that left us a comment and you don’t see it on our blog, Akismet took it. If you care to re-comment, you’ll have to do it on one of our newer entries.
